I am still alive

Dear whomever still reads this… just a note to let you know I’m still alive… but my life has changed a bit:

I bought a house this year (yeah, totally unexpected… just happened) with a garden. Before buying the house, I’d started a container vegetable garden with just a bit of salad, some beans, some tomatoes. Next year I’ll start it again at the house on a bigger scale. I’m hoping to pick up blogging again when I have things to tell about my veggie growing :)

What else has changed? Not much… still at the job I started March 2011. Still liking it, still single, still knitting, still spinning…

Walking in Feb 2011…

Well, as I expected I didn’t meet my goal of 250.000 steps in February. But not because the month was shorter than it is supposed to be. Rather because I took a week off and didn’t walk a lot during the last week of February. I managed to do 244.710 steps. In the end I’m only missing 5.290 steps… which I’ve since caught up on. That’s 210,450 km or 130,769 miles this month.

Comment on what I just wrote up there… it sure does boggle my mind that I’m complaining about the fact that I’ve ONLY walked half a million steps this year so far… A year ago I was wondering if I would even be able to do that in a whole year!

I’ve also just finished my first work ‘week’ (which was only 4 days long) and I am surprised I’m still alive. On Tuesday the lady whom I’m replacing let me know that she’ll be gone for 3 weeks starting Monday (which is also a day off for me due to Carnaval over here)… so I got 4 days of ‘training’ to do all of her tasks which are a lot and very varied.

One positive thing of this PA job is the fact that I do not get ANY phone calls at all. The General Managers working for ‘my’ VP handle all the phone calls!!! This little fact alone makes it a dream job for me as I detest answering the phone… which makes it difficult finding a secretarial/assistant job hehehe.

The lady whom I’m replacing will, after her trip, be back either until the end of March or the end of April. After that she’ll retire. And I’ll definitely be on my own. Talk about being thrown into the deep end of the pool huh?

This week has been super intense and I have not really knit or spun at all (heck, I was proud if I could stay awake later than 8 pm this week!!), but I sure made up for it yesterday. I spend all afternoon/evening alternating between the 2 and I will show pictures soon.

It is now 9:38 am and I’m going back to my wheel. At about 11.30 I’m going to drown myself and then hit the road for a walk. It is very sunny & bright and stupid cold outside, but I really want to take some pictures. It’s been since early September since I took pictures!!!

PS: one of the reasons that I’ll be able to do way more in March is that from the front door of the office building to my desk is half a km (1/3 of a mile)… so just walking from the front door and back (for lunch or leaving in the evening) twice a day gives me 2 km (a little over a mile)… that too boggles the mind…

Reply to comments…

Hello y’all… well the 2 (or 3) people still reading this blog that is… Ever since WordPress changed things I can not reply by e-mail anymore without jumping through eleventy million burning hoops, but I now found that I can reply to a comment on this blog when I approve the comment… so that is what I’ll be doing from now on. Sorry that you do not get a reply to your inbox anymore. Of course, if it is something I do not want to share with EVERYONE (yeah right) I’ll e-mail you by jumping through all those burning hoops… the things I do n’est-ce pas?

Oh my goodness…

Just came across this on Ravelry… I now really really really need to learn how to do colorwork… I adore simply everything about this sweater… the colors, the shape, the lines, the designs and whatever else :) And here’s the link to the lady’s blog… you can see the same pictures, but bigger and uncropped. Yes, the blog’s in French, but you can look at the pictures Smile I’m going to have a look through the rest of her blog later.

Just realised this is my 498th post… imagine that.

Oh and before I go… If you’re not my friend on FaceBook (why are you not my friend on FaceBook? Probably because you don’t know how to get to me there hehehe) you do not know this… Me haz a job… starting on the first… in a GINORMOUS international company (I mean the building where I’ll be working has over 100 meeting rooms!!! 100 meeting rooms… the mind boggles)… known all over the world… leaders in what they do… and I’ll be the PA to one of the directors and I’ll be totally in over my head… and I’ll earn more than I’ve ever earned in my life and I’m scared SHITLESS!!!

The internet & computers suck… I am finally a size where I could wear this gorgeous little knitted dress… and now the designer has taken the free pattern of the web to bring it back in a new layout and to make a paid pattern out of it.

I am 100% sure that I downloaded the free version, but I can’t find it on this damn computer. There may be a small chance it is on one of my other (2) laptops… aaaarrrrrgghhhhh!!!!

PS: I finished a couple of knitted items, photographed some of them and may even post about them… yeah, I know I know… you’re shocked… well so am I Smile

Jan/2011 walking stats

Steps: 261766, km 225.119, miles 139.912, cals burned 10672. I’ve done 11766 steps more than the required minimum for the month… which is a good thing as February’s darn short :)
